21st Century Circus Feak Shows

For the circus, read TV.

For the slick circus promoter, read a TV production company.

For the afflicted freaks (hairy ladies, the world's smallest man, the world's tallest woman, half man/half monkey etc), read celebrity crazed morons seeking their 15 minutes of fame.

What goes around, comes around.

But in 21st century Britain instead of the freaks scratching a living in a travelling circus, their holy grail is the possibility of a year of million pound earnings.

How did we come to this?

What is outrageous is the media trying to blame 'evil producers' for exploiting contestants and driving them to nervous breakdowns. That's funny, there was me thinking that maybe it was the lowlife media themselves picking on someone for a month that brought her to her knees. Silly me. Funny to, that the other 20 or so contestants aren't in the priory. I suppose the evil producers didn't exploit them to the same degree.. it certainly couldn't be that the media didn't pick on them every day for a month because they looked and behaved 'normally'. I also heard a BBC reporter state that it was 'the internet' and specifically youtube which caused Miss Boyle the damage, (wait for it) by showing the clip of her audition and viewers commenting on it. Yes, those youtube comments must have been what pushed her over the edge, not the papers slating her for a quick buck, exploiting her loneliness, no that couldn't be it! Shame on you internet, you bad bad boy!
